James White, BSc (Hons), ACII - Technical Advisor
James joined IBS Group in May 2000 as a Technical Advisor to the Marine & Aviation Team, where he was responsible for client, product and systems development. James' role has subsequently expanded to include heavy equipment and motor fleet business services for all our operating companies.
As of October 2004, James has been based in Singapore as a Director of IBS Group - Reinsurance Service (Singapore) Pte Ltd, where he has developed the IBS Reinsurance Broking office. His role includes maintaining existing clients and the development of new regional client relationships and business opportunities throughout the region.
Prior to joining IBS Group, James was a marine cargo and reinsurance underwriter for a major insurer in the London insurance market with business development responsibilities in both the UK and South East Asia. James holds a degree from City University (London) in Insurance and Investment Management and is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute of London. |

Ibor Lakawa, ANZIIF (Snr. Assoc) - Associate Director
Ibor is a Senior Associate from the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance. Ibor has more than 12 years experience in broking and underwriting marine covers with a leading joint venture general insurance business and with IBS Group. Ibor joined IBS Group's Marine Team in 1996 and has been managing highly successful marine cargo and aviation business within IBS Group.
Ibor was promoted as an Associate Director in August 2004 and currently heads the division of 14 staff with responsibility to manage the unique risk and insurance needs of IBS Group - Marine's clients. |

Aziz Sattar, AMII, ACII, CIB - Technical Advisor
Aziz joined IBS Group in January 2006, with over 12 years of experience working in both marine and oil & gas sectors for both broking and claims. He has previously worked for international insurance brokers in London, Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta where he was an Account Executive for Shell Malaysia, Vietsovpetro and various marine fleets. Prior to insurance broking, Aziz worked in manufacturing and offshore engineering.
Aziz holds a degree (double major) in Business Administration and Economics and has a Graduate Diploma from the Malaysian Insurance Institute. He is a Chartered Insurance Broker (CIB) and qualified as an Associate from both the Malaysian Insurance Institute (AMII) and Chartered Insurance Institute UK (ACII). In Indonesia, he has also been accredited with the APAI qualification from the Indonesian Brokers & Reinsurance Brokers Association.
With over 30 years in Asia, Aziz speaks both Bahasa Indonesia and Malaysian. Coming from an industrial and engineering background prior to joining the insurance industry, he is a specialist for hull & machinery, protection & indemnity, construction projects and onshore and offshore energy risks.

Sofie Hikma Safrina Munir, MBA, ANZIIF (Snr. Assoc)
- Business Manager
Sofie joined IBS Group in January 2003 as Business Executive for Marine Team. Prior to joining IBS Group, Sofie worked for international insurance company for more than 5 years with specialty in marine insurance underwriting.
Sofie holds Bachelor's degree in Economics and took her Master's degree in Business Administration from Edith Cowan University, Australia. She is also professionally accredited in general insurance from the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance. She attended several insurance courses, seminars and workshops, and specifically received professional training in Practical Aspects of Marine Insurance Underwriting and Claims from Singapore College of Insurance.
She was promoted to be a Business Manager of Marine Division in August 2006, and now is responsible to lead her team in managing the corporate marine insurance, as well as responsible for business development, client servicing and insurance market placement. |

Captain Sabaroedin, BSc (Hons), CMILT - Consultant
Sabaroedin joined IBS Group as a consultant in February 2006, with over 25 years experience in Marine Insurance. He started at PT Nasuha (known as ING) as the Head of the Marine Department in 1981, then moved to Malaysia managing SPICA Services the P&I Club correspondents office in 1990, before becoming the Claim Manager at the top marine insurance broker in Kuala Lumpur 1993. In 1998, he returned to Jakarta and set up a marine consultancy company.
Sabaroedin graduated from the marine academy in Jakarta in 1972, and then received his honor degree at the University of Wales in 1980. He is a Chartered member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport (CILT). He has a vast experience in handling marine casualties and claims, and has been called as a marine expert witness. He is a qualified Master Mariner Class 1, and was at sea assuming command.
As a marine consultant, Sabaroedin conducts ship per-entry condition surveys and investigates ship's casualties for P&I Clubs, hull insurers and maritime lawyers. Sabaroedin has lectured at the marine schools in Malaysia and Indonesia and is a member of the Indonesian seafarer competency examination board. |
